Location:
Humboldt Park will once again serve as our base where daily drop-offs and pick-ups will occur. Transportation on field trip days will be provided by Nestling House Summer Camp counselors in either our bus or our 8-passenger van.
Camp Activities:
Nestling House Summer Camp is a nature-based summer camp that aims to provide school-age children with a summer of full day, mostly outdoor experiences including hiking, playing, exploring, educational experiences and community! Humboldt Park days are filled with running up and down hills, hunting for frogs and tadpoles by the ponds, free play, reading in the shade of the trees, playing cooperative and team games, and more! Field trip days* have included visits to Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, Harrington Beach State Park, Klode Park, Victory Farm, Urban Ecology Centers (Riverside and Washington Park), Grant Park, South Shore Park, Kettle Moraine State Park, Lynden Sculpture Garden, Havenswood State Forest, Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, local museums and more! The camp team plans a schedule in advance but remains flexible to follow the interests of the children as the summer progresses, revisiting favorite spots and activities to encourage the children to engage in meaningful and deep play, nature exploration and natural learning opportunities each day.
More detailed information on weekly themes, field trip destinations, and the day to day happenings and logistics of camp will be sent out in May to all enrolled families. Weekly updates are also sent during the summer camp weeks.
Food:
Breaks for a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack period will be included in the daily schedule. All daily snacks and lunch, along with a refillable water bottle, will be provided by families. *We will be instituting a nut-free policy this year.*
Enrollment:
Summer camp enrollment will be accepted based on the following priority order
1. Full-time, 5 days per week, for all summer weeks
2. Part-time, fewer than 5 days per week, for all summer weeks **These schedules will need to be matched with another family to fill 5 days per week. For example, if you would like your child to attend Mon-Wed we will need to be able to connect your schedule with a family that wants Thurs-Fri to fill a full week slot.
IF SPACE REMAINS after enrollment from Categories 1 and 2 are confirmed:
3. Part-time, full summer enrollment (fewer than 5 days per week, for all summer weeks) that doesn’t match with another part-time schedule to combine for a full week.
Tuition and Fees schedule:
Registration Fee and Deposit will be due upon registration.
Tuition will be charged each month of camp with 50% being due by the 1st of each month, and the remaining 50% due by the 15th.
